What we do

INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT

The Healthier Lifestyles Project offers support to local people and aims to enhance the quality of life for local residents by:

~ Recruiting local people to our Buddies Scheme to help others who may need support to access activities, for example joining a keep fit group or a training course or simply to be a friend.

~ Helping you to set a Personal Health Improvement Target (PHIT) to help you to change your life in a positive way and then helping you to make achievable steps forward, e.g. to stop smoking, lose weight or get back into education.

ACTIVITIES TO JOIN

The Introduction to Community Development & Health (ICD&H) course is a 14 week free, accredited course which looks at the issues which matter to you and your community.

Our Personal Development 5 day course runs twice a year working with Sure Start. We also run a confidence course which is a 15 weeks accredited course.

Our Men's Cookery Class continues to be popular, running 2-3 times per year. If you have ideas for any other taster sessions you would like to attend please let us know.

We have also recently introduced a Stress Management Course and a Parenting course.  Further details from Marisa on tel: 249 1121

We also run 2 shopping squads. This service runs weekly and is for those who are unable to go shopping themselves. The mini bus picks you up from your home for a shopping trip to Morrison's.

Our 'bus buddies' project again picks you up and takes you to the Health Walks project once a week.

For details of other groups in the area please contact us.
